Window Tinting FAQ
Frequent Asked Questions
To begin the installation process, your windows are thoroughly cleaned to ensure that even the smallest pieces of dirt are removed. Next, a piece of film is cut to the size of your window, and a release liner is removed, exposing the film’s adhesive. An application solution is sprayed onto your window, and the film is then carefully placed on the glass. Using a squeegee, the application solution is removed from between the glass and the film.
Lastly, we will trim the edges of your film to ensure the perfect fit for your windows.
Tint goes on the inside. At first, the film will be laid on the outside of the window and then cut to fit the right shape. Next, the pieces of film are placed on a large piece of glass and trimmed. Then, it will be installed to the inside of the windows.
Window film applied to the 2 front windows and windshield is technically legal with a physician note per Michigan laws. There is technically no shade of film that is legal or more legal. The GOOD NEWS – We do offer a clear, high performance ceramic film that works amazing and will keep your vehicle nearly clear glass. Vehicles with tint may seem very common on the road – its technically illegal without a note. This is the drivers personal preference and anyone that does have this done takes on full responsibility of any/all risks beyond the legal limit.
Installation time typically ranges from 1 to 3 hours, depending on the type of vehicle and the number of windows being tinted. All installs are by appointment – and require a deposit for scheduling.
Our staff prefers you drop off your vehicle for us to focus on your vehicle. While we have a waiting room with a TV and magazines should you decide to wait, we prefer that you drop off your vehicle for the day for appropriate time allocated for installation. For smaller installation processes we can typically have you wait for the install. Full cars could be hours based on scheduling.
If windows are rolled down too soon after the installation, the tint can peel off. If this happens, we can redo windows at a low cost or free depending on circumstances. To avoid this, we recommend keeping your windows up for at least 2 to 4 days.
Cure time refers to the drying time of the leftover application solution after an install. While we try to get all of the solution off after every application, it is nearly impossible. Therefore, the cure time depends on the film type and drying time of the remaining solution. While this is happening, it is still performing to its full capabilities, but you might see bubbles, haze, streaks, or other visual defects while drying. Don’t be alarmed! This is completely normal while the remaining solution evaporates. Additionally, the cure time can vary given different circumstances. If it’s a hot summer day, the film might be cured in a few days. On the other hand, if it’s a chilly winter day the curing process might last a few weeks. During the cure time, it’s normal to see bubbles, streaks, and other visual defects.
Once windows are tinted, wait a week before cleaning them.
Cleaning them too soon can mess up the tint before it fully dries. After they are tinted, your windows will have been wiped down, but will likely need proper cleaning with a soft paper towel and non-ammonia cleaner after 7 days. Not recommended to use “Windex with Ammonia-D” or blue colored cleaners. We suggest vinegar Windex green) or any citrus Windex. Another option is soap and water, vinegar and water, or anything without ammonia or abrasive cleaners.
We don’t travel to homes for automotive window tint installation.
This must be done in the shop to prevent dirt, dust, and other debris from getting underneath the window film. We do offer Residential and Commercial on site tinting.
